OUR MISSION STATEMENT

EILAF interrupts monolithic narratives through which East African art is viewed and understood. We push the boundaries of the most traditional rules to create a fresh point of view. Redefining conventional luxury by introducing East African artisanal motifs to create a visual twist. The bags we have created are organic in form, inspired by East African culture, nature and lightness, created from feelings and pure intuition, resulting in raw, sculptural and mesmerizing creations that come packed with history.

Strong childhood memories of summers spent in Sudan, with my grandmother and her friends drinking tea on the porch telling tribal folklore tales, has manifested itself as the foundation for the brand. I've been inspired by East African art as the starting point for my designs and works with artisans around the world to create high quality pieces centered on craftsmanship.
